Exhaust Size ????

I just got me a obx b5 bomb muffler and was wondering what is the best exhaust pipe size with out losen HP but gian some HP it is goin to be full exhaust 89 hatch DX. thanx

The most important thing to remember is to keep it the same size all the way from the header through the muffler. 21/4-21/2 seems to work for NA cars. You might want to go 21/2-3 inch if you plan on going turbo.

if your motor is stock, i'd put 2 on it. if it's a zc or b16, i think the consensus is 2.25. if turbo, go as big as you can..3 or so.

NC_Rex did an awesome post on the sizings for this based on displacement/application. It's somewhere way back early in the threads. Maybe he has a copy of it somewhere.

The B16A SiR came out with 2inch exhaust pipe bent and a twin megaphone tip that is formed off a "y" junction off the muffler.
